50 Years in Business

Leslie Kidd established Coachfinish in 1961, selling and delivering paint from his own garage at home to businesses across Belfast. A few years later Coachfinish moved to premises in Belfast where the company began to expand.

In 1978 Leslie gave his son, Gary Kidd, the opportunity to join the business after finishing school, and so Gary started working in the stores at the age of 18. Progressing onto paint mixing and then to a junior sales man out on the road, Gary learnt everything there was to know in the trade.

By the age of 20 Gary was left in charge as Leslie retired, and from 1980 onwards he spent the next ten years working towards building a stronger customer base in the commercial vehicle market. In 1984 Eddie Craig joined the team and is now a Director of the company, achieving over 25 year’s experience.

Between 1990 and 2000 Coachfinish branched into the car refinish market, becoming Northern Ireland’s main supplier of Standox, HMG and Sherwin Williams, and continue to progress with these paint systems.

Coachfinish NI Ltd is now proud to celebrate 50 years of business within the Vehicle Refinish Industry. We would like to thank our loyal customers for their continued support and here’s to the next 50 years!
